    Blues Man

Transmitted on Tuesday, June, 2nd, 2009 at 6:59 am in Love , Poetry

    Blues Man

    Dark-bodied girl

    in the front row,

    both eyes closed,

    buried in the rhythm

of the way this darkness falls

    over your body like wind—

that body that reaches out for me

    and all this wordless sexspeak

I pour through the open leaves

    of your ears—Sweet Girl,

didn’t your mama ever tell you

men don’t need no words to break your heart?

    -after A. Van Jordan

-from the collection “We Call This Thing Between Us Love”

I love this one, Jason. The rhythm and movement are wonderful.
