    The 1100 Tenets of Geek

Transmitted on Sunday, January, 23rd, 2011 in The Modern Geek

In my continuing exploration of my own Geek, I came to realize I needed a code, an ethos, pillars upon which I may become a better geek and, ultimately, further Geek as a whole.  Thus was born the 1100 Tenets of Geek.

Through these words, may the Geek flow for you as it has flowed for me.

1:  Admit that you are a geek and that you are powerless against your particular denomination(s) of Geek.

2:  Believe that there is a power greater than you, and it is called Geek.  And though Geek takes many forms, always strive to recognize it.

3:  Make the decision to turn your life over to Geek.

4:  Keep a running inventory of your denomination(s) of Geek—i.e, video games, computers, tech, math, anime, beer, history, etc.  Concede that your Geek is fluid and ever-evolving, and though there are many like it, this particular Geek is yours.

5:  Admit your Geek not only to other geeks, but to non-geeks, so that Geek as a whole may spread.

6:  Be ready for Geek to make you a better geek.

7:  Humbly ask Geek to remove any deficiencies in your knowledge.

8:  Make a list of persons whom your Geek has helped and ask them to acknowledge the works of Geek, as well as the works of fellow geeks.

9:  Strive to encourage Geek in others.  Treat all larval geeks with great care, that they may become fully-developed in their particular denomination(s) of Geek.

10:  When your Geek has lead you astray, amend and expand your Geek.

11:  Always strive to maintain the power and fortitude to carry out your Geek, even in the face of stupidity.

12:  Having had a Geek Awakening after following these steps, strive to carry your Geek to non-geeks, and help them in their daily affairs.

    End transmission.

Hahaha! I will not admit that I am a geek. I will admit, however, I am a lover of geeks. 🙂

It’s hard not to love geeks.
